The best coaches really care about people…

My name is Elizabeth Bufton. I am a certified and accredited Neurolanguage Coach® and I am currently living and working in Bologna, Italy.

How it all began…

My journey started some 7 years ago in a coffee shop in my hometown of Nottingham. I had been wanting to change my working life for some time, and like most of us, didn’t have a clear image of where my passion lied. All I knew was that I loved travelling, absorbing cultures and had a huge empathy towards others.

I was taking a coffee at my regular bar where I saw a flyer advertising a course for ‘Teaching English as a foreign Language’. I picked it up, and after some procrastinating, finally committed to the course.

I dedicated all the spare time that I had to the course and came into contact with some very inspiring people. I started to see that teaching my language would be a platform in which I could help and reach out to others.

I feel that I have to share this with you, as this was the turning point for me. It taught me that when we have support from like minded people and we are dedicated and focused, we can achieve anything.

“Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act.”

After a year of study, I moved to Bologna with a plan to stay for 5 months, 5 years on and I am still here.

Over these years, I worked for one of the leading schools in Bologna, building my professional career and creating a portfolio of students.

I went on to Teach privately and to leading Businesses in and around Bologna, such as Lamborghini, KPMG, Unicredit and ‘Unipol assicurazione’ . Having fully developed my teaching skills, I still felt that there was a separation between myself and the student during the learning process.

While I can’t completely rule out the benefits of language books, I found them to be a barrier between myself and the Learner. There was a lack of emotional connection. This is when I asked myself the same question I had 5 years ago – ’Why am I doing this?’. It was to help people better their understanding of the Language and for them to enjoy the Learning process, and I believe the only way we can truly understand something, is when we are emotionally connected to it.

“Emotions are a critical source of information for learning.” — Joseph LeDoux

This led me to the next step in my career. I went on to become a certified and accredited Neurolanguage Coach®, which combines the learning process and how the brain absorbs information, allowing the learner to connect to the language.

The Neurolanguage Coaching® method is tailor made to the learner’s needs and learning style, which has shown to be the most successful and efficient Learning method. I continue to develop my skills and constantly support my Learners to help and encourage them to achieve their goals.
